Posset Singers is a friendly community choir based in Portishead, run by the members, for the benefit of the members. It aims to be inclusive and welcoming to people from 16 years upwards (though 16 and 17 year olds must be accompanied by an adult) whatever their musical ability. Music and lyrics are provided for rehearsals, but reading music is not a requirement, many of our members do not read music. We learn by ear and auditions do not take place. We are a four part a capella choir and the music sung includes of rock, pop, soul, folk, musical theatre, film music and festive music in the autumn term. A main objective of the choir is to perform in public at appropriate events. Whilst making music together is the founding principle, the choir aims to do so in a manner that promotes friendship and togetherness, to this end regular social events are another important feature of the choir. We also regularly fund raise for our nominated charity Portishead Christmas Lights .
