Posset Singers will be returning to live rehearsals on the 17th May, in accordance with the Department of Culture, Media & Sports guidelines for live rehearsals. Due to a limitation in numbers, we will not be able to accept new members or allow walk-ins at this point. We will be unable to accomodate new members until the autumn term, but after June 21st, if the lockdown regulations end as planned, you would then be welcome to join us for a free taster session, to see if you enjoy singing with us and would like to join us in the autumn term.
Posset Singers is a friendly community choir based in Portishead, run by the members, for the benefit of its over 50 members. It aims to be inclusive and welcoming to people from 16 years upwards whatever their musical ability, music is provided but reading music is not a requirement (many of our singers do not read music). We learn by ear and auditions will not take place. The music sung includes a cappella arrangements of rock, pop, soul, folk, musical theatre, film music and festive songs in the autumn term. A main objective for the choir is to perform in public at appropriate events. Whilst making music together is the founding principle, the choir aims to do so in a manner which promotes friendship and togetherness, to this end the organisation of regular social events is another important objective. We also fundraise for local charities.
If you are considering joining, then please e-mail us at email@example.com. The very best time to join is at the beginning of a term, but as there are mp3 recordings for all of the parts, for all of our songs on Dropbox, you can catch up with the rest of the choir on songs we already know. You can listen and learn in your own time. There will always be some songs you will need to catch up on, as we do carry songs over from previous terms.
Posset Singers rehearse weekly on Monday evenings in term time from 7:45p.m. to 9:45p.m in the Methodist Church Hall, High St, Portishead. The entrance to the hall is at the rear of the church, access is from Ferndale Rd.
Cost: The first taster session is free, then it is £5 per week (refreshments included), normally payable in advance either for a half term or full term.
(Weekly payment will be accepted at a charge of £6 per session).
