Posset Singers are returning to Zoom for rehearsals whilst the current lockdown remains in place, the rehearsal will be from 7:45 to 9:15 p.m, with a visit to the virtual pub afterwards.
In previous years Posset Singers have collected for Portishead Christmas Lights at our Christmas concert. As there was no concert this year due to COVID, we produced this, our virtual mini Christmas concert video. The video raised £530 in online donations for Portishead Christmas Lights.
Posset Singers is a friendly community choir based in Portishead, run by the members, for the benefit of its over 50 members. It aims to be inclusive and welcoming to people from 16 years upwards whatever their musical ability, music is provided but reading music is not a requirement (many of our singers do not read music). We learn by ear and auditions will not take place. The music sung includes a cappella arrangements of rock, pop, soul, folk, musical theatre, film music and festive songs in the autumn term. A main objective for the choir is to perform in public at appropriate events. Whilst making music together is the founding principle, the choir aims to do so in a manner which promotes friendship and togetherness, to this end the organisation of regular social events is also an important objective. We also fundraise for local charities.
If you are considering joining, then please e-mail us at firstname.lastname@example.org. The very best time to join is at the beginning of a term, but as there are mp3 recordings for all of the parts, for all of our songs on Dropbox, you can catch up with the rest of the choir on songs we already know. You can listen and learn in your own time. There will always be some songs you will need to catch up on, as we do carry songs over from previous terms.
Our charity for 2019 was Portishead Christmas Lights, the total raised was £1412
Our charity for 2018 was Penny Brohn Total Raised £800
