POSSET SINGERS

CORONAVIRUS UPDATE

Posset Singers have currently suspended rehearsing in the church hall due to the current Coronavirus restrictions.  However, we hope to resume rehearsals later in the autumn of 2020, if this can be achieved safely within the regulations that are applicable at the time.  Because we are not yet certain if we can resume rehearsals and if we do, what numbers we will be able to have at each rehearsal, we cannot say if we can accept new members.  If you do wish to join us, please email us at the email address shown in our contact details below and we will keep you informed of the latest situation.  Previously, we welcomed walk ins to our rehearsals, but we will not be able to do so for the foreseeable future.

Don't forget to check out our lockdown performances of  Bobby Darin's Things

and Bob Marley's Three Little Birds (Don't Worry)

Who We Are

Posset Singers is a friendly community choir based in Portishead, run by the members, for the benefit of its over 50 members.  It aims to be inclusive and welcoming to people from 16 years upwards whatever their musical ability, music is provided but reading music is not a requirement (many of our singers do not read music).  We learn by ear and auditions will not take place.  The music sung includes a cappella arrangements of rock, pop, soul, folk, musical theatre, film music and festive songs in the autumn term.  A main objective for the choir is to perform in public at appropriate events.  Whilst making music together is the founding principle, the choir aims to do so in a manner which promotes friendship and togetherness, to this end the organisation of regular social events is also an important objective.  We also fundraise for local charities.

If you are considering joining, then please e-mail us at possetsingers@gmail.com.  The very best time to join is at the beginning of a term, but as there are mp3 recordings for all of the parts, for all of our songs on Dropbox, you can catch up with the rest of the choir on songs we already know.  You can listen and learn in your own time.  There will always be some songs you will need to catch up on, as we do carry songs over from previous terms.

Our charity for 2019 was Portishead Christmas Lights, the total raised was £1412

Our charity for 2018 was Penny Brohn   Total Raised £800
